Falkirk started strongly with most of the play in the Alloa half. The deadlock was broken with a well worked short corner seeing David Ferguson firing in from the top of the D. Pat Forrester doubled the lead before half time after a good run. Falkirk continued to dominate in the second half and Douglas Nicol scored from another short corner. Good play at the back by Andrew Easton and Paul Paton allowed David Jewell to break free down the left wing and his cross was well converted by James Robertson. Late in the game, Alloa managed a consolation score.

III 2
Hillhead III 3
Late on Friday evening the Glasgow Club approached Falkirk looking for a friendly as their trip to play Lochaber in Fort William fell foul of the weather. Charles Kemp and Gregor Maxwell hastily put together a side featuring some of the Club's youngsters to see Hillhead open in the 9th minute after a bad clearance by the defence. Gregor Maxwell levelled two minutes later after a build up by Adam Dyer, in his last game before a year in Australia. Stuart Macdonald thought he had scored only to have his effort nullified by the visiting umpire who believed it to have been hit outside of the shooting circle.
Hillhead opened the second half strongly scoring two in quick succession. Gregor Maxwell clawed one back after a run by Jonny Reid, and Ben Brewer set up a late chance for Derek Morrison to level the game but to no avail. Robert Thomson in goal pulled off some instinctive saves.
