On their 'home' pitch at Forrester High School in Edinburgh, Falkirk could not find success on the way to goal against this Dundee team who are second in the league. Paul Paton kept the local side in the game with several crucial goal line clearances but even with the support of Stephen Sutton and Kevin Russell called up from the seconds, the possibility of reaching the scoresheet was not to be found.
On the astro at St George's school, the Falkirk side lacked momentum such that they trailed by a goal at half time against a ten man Edinburgh side. Clawing one back from the stick of Derek Morrison, before also being reduced to ten men, team captain Gregor Maxwell broke the deadlock to ensure both league points came back to Falkirk with a well executed penalty flick.
Falkirk peppered shots at the Glasgow team's goal but to no avail with Jonny Anderson, Craig Griffiths and Chris Sim not finding the target. The team taking the pounding broke free and as so often happens ran up the field to open the scoring. Thus shaken into action, Falkirk's response came surprisingly from David Humphreys who was playing at left back, after he picked up a rebound from shots by Billy Brankin, Sim and Griffiths, none of whom could elude the keeper. To tie the game up, Jonathan Anderson scored two good goals to settle the scoreline in this most amicable friendly encounter played in the true spirit of hockey.
