After a good first half performance, with Paul Paton producing a fine goal-line clearance, the score sheet remained blank. Falkirk took the lead through Ally Wilson, and after Giffnock leveled, John Scott hit the crossbar with his shot, before firing home off the inside of the post. Giffnock again equalised, and Falkirk failed to do anything with Penalty Flick award to restore their lead. Despite good saves by Brian Kemp in goal, the Glasgow side found the road to goal for the winner and three league points.

Falkirk started strongly pushing Inverleith into their own half forcing their keeper to make several saves from shots by David Jewell and James Robertson, but there was to be no scoring in the first half. Falkirk started badly with their hosts scoring from a rare visit to the Falkirk D. This shook Falkirk into action, Kevin Russell forcing a penalty corner which was converted by Stephen Sutton. Pushing forward James Robertson fired the ball in from close range to put them in the lead. With this narrow lead at risk Scott Ferguson pushed forward and found Stephen Sutton who flicked the ball past the keeper.

This has to be the cleanest, quietist and unusually most friendly league match between the Clubs for a long time. Both sides are to be congratulated on their behavior in a game which flowed with both sides having chances but no one really too close to scoring. Kevin Cummings in goal did have several saves to make, while Douglas Smith was clinical in his tackling. Jonny Reid ran well, supported by Joe Trodden but no one on either side could find the finishing touch.

Despite having 75% of the ball, only a Craig Griffiths goal made the scoresheet. An excellent team performance with special mention of Jonathan Anderson and Stephen Macdonald.
Not the greatest of performances by the team which saw chances for Chris Taylor up front to score.
