Falkirk opened in a blistering attack on the Fifers' goal, with Arthur Robertson firing two rasping rocket shots into the circle which were neatly and cleverly deflected into the goal by Ross Crerar. Adrian Lewis made it three in the 15th minute and it looked as though a rout was the order of the day with Joe Trodden having several shots at the keepre, and Robert Sutton hitting the foot of a defender after a mazey run from the half way line. In a dour second half Willie Simpson in defence and Jonathan Reid played well nut no further scores were to be had.

Grange saw their grass pitch as their secret weapon but it backfired on them as the Falkirk youngsters who had all looked out their football boots for the wet and slippy field, raised their game and refused to be pushed off the ball or intimidated by their larger opponets. With both keepers looking as though they had been in a mud fight, Chris Taylor was inspirational to his side, saving the day on several occasions. Ypung Arthur Robertson harried well absorbing much pressure in midfield, but Falkirk's best chance came from the stick of Chris Anderson who was narrowly wide of the post. Falkirk found another star in young Gordon Anderson who played his very first adult game at the age of 11 proving he is worth watching for the future.
