Minus two of their normal side, including Captain Gregor Maxwell, the fourth team found it hard going at first allowing the Edinburgh hosts to open in the tenth minute. Chances were there for Adrian Lewis, Ross Crerar and Joe Trodden before Derek Morrison hit in the equaliser. Adrian Lewis produced a skillful reverse stick stop to cannily deflect the ball past an unlucky keeper who believed it had been hit outside the circle. Esk leveled with a deceptive shot which left Kevin Cumming in goal with no chance.
Goals by Chris Sim and Jonny Anderson helped to secure the league points on the Bathgate astroturf.
The long trip to Kirkcaldy High School saw Falkirk return disappointed at being unable to manage a share of the points after a catastrophic mix-up in defence saw the Fifers snatch victory. Goals by Stuart Macdonald and David Ainsworth were enough until the fatal misunderstanding, with Michael Steel in goal in his usual outstanding form.
