Despite taking a three goal lead over their Edinburgh hosts, Falkirk allowed them to come back in the second half with two scores to put the destination of three league points in doubt. David Sharp used his poaching instincts for the first, Douglas Nicol slotted in number two in the dying seconds of the first half. Stephen Sutton put his name on the third which should have sealed the game but even the acrobatics of Michael Steel in goal could not prevent two scores. Chances to stretch the lead were there for Iain Fraser and Kevin Russell but the scoreline was to take the team two points closer to the League Title if the team also win next week.

On the astro at Watsons College, the youthful Falkirk side with a smattering of older more experienced heads, matched a robust Edinburgh squad to end the game honours even. Watsons looked the likelier to break the deadlock but Scott Morrison in goal was in stubborn mood. Chas Kemp, Stuart MacDonald, Stuart Bell and Amrit Dhillon were particularly tenacious in midfield, but had there been a little more composure in front of goal, the result might have been different. With John Gow umpiring well enough for both halves of the pitch, this allowed both sides to show off their silky skills in a game for which a draw was a fair result.
Feelings are always strong when the opposition are the gentlemen from Edinburgh and this game saw good umpiring by their whistler ensure a fair game. Derek Morrison picked up a ball from Gordon Jeffrey, and with two shots saved by the keeper managed a sublime flick over a stranded keeper for goal one. Kevin Cummings remained cool in goal with some timely kicks helped by an off-the-line clearance by Kenneth Laird. Spurning scoring opportunities from corner awards, it took a Jonathan Reid run to feed Gregor Maxwell with the ball which he cooly slot home to seal the game.
