Falkirk GHG
III 2
Hillhead III 3
Falkirk were delighted to rekindle
their friendship with the Glasgow Club with whom there had been a long history
of friendlies played by both the Graeme High FP and Grangemouth Clubs.
Falkirk should have had this game in the bag in the first half but Jonny Anderson
could only hit the post, and Chris Sim and Austin Heggie also could not open
the scoring. Even with the award of a Penalty Stroke, Charles Kemp saw his
shot well-saved by the Hillhead keeper. It took a Jonny Anderson cross which
found Chris Sim to make the opener.
Hillhead soon leveled but Stuart MacDonald found the net courtesy of an untypical
pass from Austin Heggie. Stuart Gardner and Ian Park made a welcome return
and showed both had not lost their enthusiasm for the game. Two further scores
by Hillhead sealed the game, despite a late chance to level which involved
William Simpson and David Sharp, with Charles Kemp unable to divert the ball
into the goal from close in.
