In the first leg of the playoffs Falkirk got of to a dream start when Ally Wilson found the goal after a good run by Arthur Robertson inside the first minute. Wilson added two shortly afterwards from a solo run. Falkirk let Carnegie back into the game and they soon leveled after two penalty corner awards. The second half saw Ally Wilson complete his hat trick to make it three and team Captain Michael Watson almost made it four but saw his shot saved by the keeper. Despite some good play by John Scott and Andrew Easton Falkirk could not find the net and it was Carnegie who capitalised on this from a penalty corner award two minutes from time.
