A blank score sheet at the break did not bode well, but Falkirk took the game by the scruff of the neck. Derek Morrison broke the deadlock hitting a rocket shot from the top of the circle after a corner award. Joe Trodden had the chance to make it two after a build-up by Maxwell, Morrison, Crerar and Jonny Reid, but the second came when Gregor Maxwell converted a penalty flick. Gordon Jeffrey hit a good ball for young Scott Coventry to make it three with a clever deflection into the roof of the net. David Wood came close and Ross Crerar's attempt was not hard enough as he attempted to shoot into an empty goal. Then the rout was on with Maxwell flicking in a corner award, Coventry from a Morrison cross with a flick over the keeper, and Maxwell finishing just on the final whistle to make it six and confirm the team's progression into the next round of the cup.

(Falkirk won 3-1 on penalties)
This Reserve Cup tie at Leith Academy saw David Park put Falkirk ahead before the Edinburgh hosts equalised. Falkirk remained encamped in their host's 25-yard area, but they could not find the winner. In the resultant penalty flick shootout, scores by Billy Brankin, Amrit Dhillon and Ben Brewer saw the team go forward to the next round of the cup. Simon Tennant played well at left back.

Falkirk expected this division
two side to be quite a handful but their lowly division four team formed of
a mixture of players from the Club's bottom two teams were surprised to have
the chances they had in front of goal. The Fifers opened the scoring in this
cup game, but Falkirk responded with Russell Brown showing what to do with
a penalty corner award as he stopped the ball, sidestepped the defence and
fired into goal. Five minutes from the break the visitors went in front, but
the Falkirk side never gave up. Craig Waterson set up a chance for Andrew
Claridge and Jonathan Nugent fired in a good cross for the first of several
chances for Chris Taylor which could have leveled the game but it was not
to be.
