The visitors from Aberdeenshire were far from home when they met an understrength Falkirk side. Neil McFadyen began a good move down the right, involving David Ferguson which saw Chris Anderson hit in the opener. The visitors equalised despite the best efforts of Scott Morrison in goal, the goal to progress the team into the next round came in the closing minutes from Iain Fraser.
Scott Coventry drove the ball into the circle for Gregor Maxwell to net the opener before hitting the post with a second shot soon after. Jonathan Reid made it two but the Edinburgh side pulled one back before Maxwell again reached the scoresheet with a reverse stick flick, to make it three. Jamie Ballantine in goal saved a Penalty Flick attempt while Kenneth Laird put in several telling tackles.
The long trip to Galashiels saw Falkirk begin the game with nine men, but keeper Robert Thomson kept them in the game. Goals from Mark Stewart and Russell Heron were enough to give the league points to Falkirk.
This was the last league game of the season for the fives and they were unlucky not to at least snatch a draw. A John Galloway hit into the circle was touched by David Humphreys to claim the opener but this was not enough as MIM went on to snatch two scores. Jonathan Nugent ran his heart out up front, and young Craig Callaghan from Graeme High School on his first league game against adult opposition showed great determination in winning tackles.

A ten man side went in front with a good goal from a penalty corner award netted by young Arthur Robertson. Paul Paton made it two but the Edinburgh side gradually clawed their way back into the game despite determined defending by Graeme Pitcaithly and Gordon Anderson and good attacking by Alister Mitchell.
