Falkirk started well in this rearranged league match, and went ahead early on through Arthur Robertson from an Iain Fraser deflection. Falkirk went close again, Michael Watson deflecting a Kevin Russell cross onto the post, and the Perthshire keeper forced to make a series of blocks. At the other end, Stafford Dickson kept Perth at bay, with Scott Morrison pulling of a good block to keep the local side ahead at half time. Within 5 minutes of the restart, Falkirk should have been 2 up, but Watson pulled his shot wide with only the keeper to beat. This proved costly as Perth equalised from a disputed penalty award, following a great Morrison save and Paul Paton's goal line block. Falkirk drove forward again, with Russell, Dickson and Watson all out of luck in front of goal, but finally got what proved to be the winning goal with 10 minutes to go. A long corner from Russell was gathered by Scott Ferguson and his pass into the box was deflected in by Watson. As Perth pushed for an equaliser, Falkirk could have scored again, but as three of them bore in on the Perth goalkeeper without a defender in sight, they were denied by an accurate full time whistle.

Falkirk GHG IV 0
The long trip up to Dundee saw the Falkirk side overwhelmed by their hosts. Reduced to nine men when Simon Tennant was forced to withdraw to visit Ninewells Hospital after being hit in the face by a ball, the side battled on against the inevitable.
