Falkirk had an early start to meet the only undefeated team in the league on Saturday, and turned up to face Aberdeen University with a degree of apprehension. The mood was not helped early on as Aberdeen took the lead, exploiting a gap in the Falkirk defence. This spurred the local side, minus four regulars, to take the game to the home side, and they leveled midway through the first half, Michael Watson finding space in the D before passing to the back post where Arthur Robertson was on hand to score his 1st of the season. Aberdeen had a good chance to regain the lead having been awarded a penalty flick for the ball hitting a Falkirk foot, as it was going away from goal, but shot high and wide. In the second half, Falkirk received a penalty as Ally Wilson was felled by the Uni keeper, but Kevin Russell's flick was well saved. Within five minutes , Falkirk had another penalty, this time Wilson's goalbound shot was kicked off the line, and Dougie Blakeley placed the flick to the bottom right to put Falkirk ahead. Falkirk had a few chances to tie up the game, but Ally Wilson and Ian Fraser were unlucky not to find the net. It was left to Ray Ronan in the Falkirk goal to make sure the points came down the road with a near post save in the final minutes.

Chances were there for Iain Cameron and Chas Kemp to open but it was in the last ten minutes when, from a corner routine involving Kemp and John Russell, that Mark Stewart knocked in the only goal of the game to secure the points.

Despite the lack of goals, scoring opportunities were there, more so for the Falkirk side. David Humphreys tried to score with a reverse-stick shot, Andrew Claridge ran well, surging runs by Iain Forbes found David Downham in good positions, and Alastair Mitchell, taking a break from goalkeeping, saw his shot hit the post, while Andrew Woodland toiled relentlessly in midfield. However the elusive opener never came.
