GHG IV 1
GHK Clydebank 1
Falkirk won 3-0 on penalties
This Men's Reserve Plate game on
Sunday at the Bathgate astro saw the Glasgow side start the game almost half
an hour late, which did nothing for the demeanour of the Falkirk side. In
the first five minutes, Gregor Maxwell had the chance to go in front from
a cross from Craig Callahan, and a later shot was saved by the keeper. Scott
Coventry saw a shot at a penalty corner saved in similar fashion, with Iain
Cameron having a chance just before the half time whistle. The visitors from
Glasgow eventually found the way to goal with a breakaway run which left the
defence lost. Iain Cameron had another chance from a mazy run through their
defence, but the equaliser came from a hotly disputed penalty flick award,
which Gregor Maxwell calmly slotted away. Despite a late flurry attacking
the visitors' goal when Iain Cameron came so close to putting the winner away,
the teams were destined to a penalty flick shoot-out. Thanks to goals by Scott
Coventry, Gregor Maxwell and Barry Warner, the fours will progress to the
last sixteen of the Plate competition on Saturday 15th March.
