Whilst the score line and after match post-mortem suggested a poor performance, on reflection, it wasn't as bad as first appeared, although it was below the standard of performance demonstrated over the past 2 seasons. Individual mistakes, slack defending and a number of missed chances from the local side contrasting with solid defending and clinical finishing meant that MGM held a commanding lead at half time. A much improved second half gave Falkirk ample opportunity to eat into the MGM lead, but as in the first half, these chances were squandered. MGM extended their lead to 6 goals before goals from Michael Watson and Douglas Nicol got Falkirk off the mark. Unfortunately, there was to be no further comeback as MGM completed the scoring to run out comfortable winners.

Dundee Wanderers II

Falkirk's best performance of the season so far saw them chalk up their first win against a Wanderers second string combining youth and experience. There were fears of a repeat of the morning game as Falkirk chances were missed, but they eventually took the lead, after a strong run from Iain Fraser allowed Michael Watson to score. Further scores from Fraser, Chris Anderson and a Stafford Dickson penalty gave Falkirk a strong half time lead, which could have been more had it not been for a number of goal line clearances by the Wanderers defence. Wanderers started the second half strongly, scoring once and exerting some pressure on the local goal before Douglas Nicol restored the 4 goal advantage after a good passing move. Wanderers introduced an additional outfield player to replace their goalkeeper for the last five minutes as they tried to get back into the game, but Stephen Egan in the Falkirk goal denied them any further scores with a series of saves. Falkirk got a final goal at the very end of the game, Arthur Robertson popping up to score from close range, and put the seal on a deserved victory.

Clydesdale II 1
A fired-up Falkirk side took to the Forrresters astro pitch in Edinburgh for this home fixture. From the outset, they gave their visitors from Glasgow no time on the ball, with good harrying play by James Robertson and Ben Brewer in midfield, It was from this that Falkirk opened the scoring through a tap in from Ross Anderson. Falkirk kept up the tempo at the start of the second half and quickly converted a short corner with Dougie Blakeley ghosting in at the back post. The visitors pulled one back, but the home side did not let up and responded with a second from Anderson. David Sharp added a fourth by expertly pushing the ball under an advancing keeper, following a pass from Anderson. The latter spurned several chances to record a hat trick, but overall, Falkirk thoroughly deserved their win prior to the Christmas break.

Grange 4th Xl 2
The visitors from Edinburgh opened the scoring in the tenth minute from a short corner award, and that was how the scoring stayed until five minutes into the second half when acting-captain for the day Derek Morrison banging in the equaliser from a short corner award. Grange pulled ahead again but Falkirk did not hang back and with good interpassing went up the park with the ball going to Joe Trodden whose shot was just wide. Johnathan Nugent was there in the right place to touch in the ball for the equaliser at a later corner award and with the game balanced on a knife-edge, both sides battled for the goal to break the deadlock. Scott Coventry went on an outstanding run up the right wing all the way to the goal line, where he crisply crossed the ball into the shooting circle where, again perfectly placed, Johnathan Nugent was on hand to touch in the goal that mattered to separate the teams and send Grange home to Edinburgh without even a share of the league points.
Iain Cameron was dangerous on the break but it was Barry Warner who opened the scoring in the eighth minute from a corner award. Three minutes later, Adrian Lewis did the running from which Jonathan Anderson made it two. Chris Dyer was unsuccessful when he tried a shot from a kneeling position, and then Mark Stewart added a third in the 23rd minute. Craig Callahan was hoping for goal glory as he took the ball into the circle where Barry Warner fired in the fourth score. Although Grange managed to score from a short corner, the half time whistle might have heralded the end of the game as there were no further scores after that. The sides did not give up in the second half, and Craig Callahan had a shot at the keeper, and sent a useful ball through the circle in the last ten seconds of the game.
Carnegie arrived from Dunfermline without a full side, and started two men short so Falkirk did their best with young Graeme High schoolboy Alan Jenkins, having an early shot at goal three minutes into the game. Ross Connell he saw his reverse-stick shot just wide of the post. Simon Tennant at the back was on hand to clear the ball off the line to deny the Fifers the opener and Jamie Ballantine in goal, saved a short corner effort, before Carnegie opened from a breakaway when with the defence posted missing upfield, Ballantine was left with a no-win one to one situation to deal with. Connell again came close to scoring before Carnegie made it two. Playing in an unfamiliar midfield role, Simon Tennent set up Craig Callahan for a chance at goal but even a consolation score was to prove elusive.
