After last week's disappointing performance when an initial two-goal lead was to have been squandered to see the team end a goal down. This performance by the boys could have been described as awesome as for 20 minutes. Melvilles were kept in their own half. David Jewell and Scott Coventry had good chances to open the scoring but the scoresheet remained blank at the break. David Sharp moved up front after the break and from a Sharp ball to Ross Anderson, saw him fouled at the top of the circle. From the resulting penalty corner award, acting captain Derek Morrison rattled the ball into the net for what was to be the only goal of the game. With the team literally playing out of their skins, a great performance included good tackles by Ross Crerar, Joe Trodden digging in in midfield, Neil McFadyen in determined mood and good saves by Kevin Cummings in goal all combined to an excellent team performance.

This Melvilles team was only promoted up into this division at the beginning of this season and suffered the same humiliating defeat at the hands of Falkirk last September. Had all chances that were available been taken, Iain Cameron could have made two hat tricks. As it was, Melvilles failed to get their free hits any distance upfield, with Cameron and Jonny Anderson pouncing on them, and with scores from no less than five penalty flicks, desperation at the back showed through in their attempts to keep Falkirk out. Two hat tricks from Cameron and Anderson, both including a penalty flick, further flicks from Chris Dyer, Danny Gibney and Amrit Dhillon, and scores by Johnathan Nugent and Tom Russell completed the rout. No doubt the Edinburgh side must wonder they secured promotion, if this is how they fare each week. Congratulations to Ross Anderson on passing his C grade umpiring badge.

After meeting the 5th string from the Adult club last week, it was fortunate the team above was without league business and happy to give the schoolboys some opposition. It was a pleasure to welcome the fours, as the majority of the team were former pupils of the old school, and appreciated the chance to experience the new facilities. Predictably the older side went into a four-goal lead despite the best efforts of the youngsters, with Sam Hannah in goal unlucky on several occasions. Gordon Anderson, Iain Forbes, and two scores by David Park made things hot for the schoolboys, but the second half saw them come back into the game with Alastair Nayer and Gordon Forbes finding the way to goal. Chances were there and Craig Callahan was close at a corner award. Stuart Taylor, a former Head Boy of the School nearly scored another for the fours. Thanks to FPs John Gow and Gregor Maxwell for turning out to umpire, and to Captain Malcolm Taylor for arranging the 4th team, though unable himself to play.

Carnegie Juniors 1
As always with these games it depends on the breakaways as each team always plays to win this game and as Falkirk had won the previous game at the start of the season, Carnegie were out for revenge. Unfortunately for them it was the Falkirk side that got the breaks with a few close hits off the posts and just past the post. Falkirk found the visitors goal through some excellent work from Chris Brodie to Stewart Laing and then finally Alex MacFadyen expertly slotted the ball under the Carnegie keeper. Falkirk came back five minutes later through a goalmouth scramble, which saw Stewart Laing get the second, and just before half-time Iain Webster added a third through a well struck penalty corner into the Carnegie goal. The second-half started with Carnegie as expected pulling out all the stops and pushing the home sides back to the goal getting penalty corner after penalty corner and finally snatching a goal through one of these routines, but try as they might the Falkirk defence had worked out their routines and keep it goal free. Falkirk should have had more goals but it was not to be, still it was a good result.
