Falkirk GHG II 1
Edinburgh Uni III 1
After the debacle with nets on the Saturday, Falkirk Fixtures Secretary John
Galloway pulled through with a set for the Sunday game at Bathgate. The 2nd
eleven's last game of the season against Edinburgh Uni, was to prove to be
one of the home teams best performances of the season, however thanks to some
fantastic goal keeping, they could only manage a 1 each draw. Falkirk took
an early lead after a thunderous shot from a short corner from captain Derek
Morrison, Uni however equalised from a short corner of their own before the
half and the teams turned round level at the break.
The second half saw a change in attitude from Falkirk, and from the off they
pressured the Uni defence hard. Maxwell and Crerar again working well up front,
with good support form the wings from Scott Coventry and Ross Connell, David
Jewell and Joe Troddan in the midfield also worked hard in the middle to support
the frequent attacks. On the few occasions that Uni did threaten tough defending
from David Sharp, Jason Park, Wullie Simpson and Gordon Jeffrey kept the students
at bay, as well as some good stops from Kev "the goalie" Cummings.
With a point in the bag, third place looks to have been secured for the 2nd
eleven, so thanks to everyone who played and umpired for the team this season.
