Dundee Wanderers II 4
With the prospect of relegation staring them in the face, Falkirk's indoor side put in their best performance of the season on Saturday in a comprehensive defeat of Dundee Wanderers. Falkirk started in a very determined mood, and took the lead after a strong run from Douglas Nicol set up Michael Watson to open the scoring. A similar run minutes later brought Falkirk's second, but this time Nicol deceived the Wanderers keeper to net himself. Ally Wilson extended Falkirk's lead with a flick from a narrow angle, before setting up Arthur Robertson for Falkirk's fourth. With Robertson, Dickson and Thomson holding a strong defensive line, Wilson took advantage to run riot and wrack up another three goals before the break to leave Falkirk with a seven goal lead. Knowing Wanderers wouldn't take this humiliation lying down, Falkirk started the second half as they finished the first, with Watson getting his second and Falkirk's eighth. Wanderers managed to break their duck after Robertson was barged off the ball under the nose of the umpire without penalty, and quickly netted a second. Wilson completed the scoring for Falkirk with his fifth of the match, and although Wanderers managed to pull 2 more back near the end, Falkirk ran out comfortable winners.

MGM 4
For the first time this season, Falkirk took maximum points from the weekends game with a hard fought win over MGM. Like the morning game, Falkirk raced into an early lead with strikes from Douglas Nicol, Ally Wilson and Arthur Robertson. Stafford Dickson converted a penalty in each half to take Falkirk's tally to 5, whilst Robert Thomson produced some outstanding saves to limit MGM to a couple of penalty corner strikes. As the second half drew on, Falkirk extended their lead with a second from Wilson, and Dickson tapping in from inches to complete his hat trick. MGM managed 2 more goals late on to make the final minutes more tense than they should have been, but Falkirk held on for the 3 points that lifted them out of the relegation spot.

The Edinburgh hosts opened the scoring after fifteen minutes had been clocked, netting from a penalty corner award. It was a lead they held onto until ten minutes from the half-time whistle when James Robertson levelled the game; Ross Connell separated the teams with his score just before the break. Watsonians pressed during the second half but Ross Crerar made the scoreline more robust when he added the third from a breakaway.

In a bit of a blizzard at Saughton, Falkirk found it was difficult to keep the hands on the stick, and were under pressure from both the opposition and the sleet and cold wind. The second half saw the deadlock broken when a short corner scoring opportunity saw the ball go out, through Johnathan Anderson to Tom Russell who picked it up and scored. Later, a long corner hit by Scott McNeill trickled to fellow schoolboy Craig Callahan who laid it off to John Russell to send it goalwards where Stephen Macdonald popped it into the net. The Uni with an impressive show of stickwork from some of their number came back but found the usual stalwarts at the back, Douglas Smith and David Craig, breaking down any threat with as usual, Jamie Ballantine in goal pulling off the telling save to keep the scoresheet clean.

With the Adult side without a league game again this week, another opportunity was there for the Falkirk schoolboys to experience some adult opposition. Lacking several of their usual compliment, the ten-man Fives found themselves trailing by two goals as they took time to settle to their task. Chances had been there for the opener, with Christopher Brodie, David Humphreys and Jamie Ballantine coming close. However, restored to a full side with the arrival of Jim Brodie at the break to play at the back, the team went upfield and levelled the game with a score by Christopher Brodie. Ten-year-old Andrew Malcolm was in place to prod the ball over the line for the second. Both sides tried for the decider, with Chris Thomson and John McPherson pushing forward, but the schoolboys broke away and eluded Craig Malcolm to snatch what was to be the winner.
