Falkirks’ first of three successive home games against Grange saw them play host to the Edinburgh sides 5th eleven at Linlithgow Academy. Falkirk played well enough to win this fixture, however some outstanding saves by the visiting keeper earned Grange a point. Falkirk had the measure of the visitors but were unable to convert any of the numerous short corners that they were awarded. Falkirk also struggled to take advantage of their many forays into the Grange penalty area. Grange were kept at bay until the last 10 minutes of the game when they had 3 short corners in quick succession, all of which were expertly dealt with by the rock solid Falkirk back line.

After the postponement of previous weeks fixtures due to snow, the 3rd XI were eager to return to action. They travelled to Rosyth to play a Carnegie side slightly below them in the league and can be pleased with the level of performance they put in. The Falkirk team started brightly having a chance at goal in the opening seconds before almost immediately going a goal down, following some slack defending. With two players failing to turn up the Falkirk sides chances were greatly reduced when their 11 was reduced to 10 with John Russell requiring lengthy treatment to a hand injury. In this period however, Danny Gibney came close from a short corner as well as having a good chance from open play. Liam Robertson, making his 3rd XI debut, showed what he was capable off, running the midfield in the absence of Russell and coming close to scoring on a few occasions as well. After holding on with 10 players Falkirk, John Russell returned to action and almost immediately Falkirk scored the equaliser. Danny Gibney, encouraged by his hatrick two weeks ago, chased a long ball up field and with a deft touch played in to Mark Stewart who made no mistake with an excellent finish for his first of the season. Into the second half and both teams had chances to win the game, with Dougie Smith and Chris Dyer defending well and Ballantine in goal making a few good saves. At the other end of the park Robertson came close again and Stephen Macdonald pulled his shot slightly wide. With both sides tiring it fell to Robertson to make a great pass into the feet of John Russell at the post but he was unable to get the touched required to send the ball goalbound. The last chance of the game fell to Danny Gibney who was one on one with the keeper but could only shot wide. All in all a good game of hockey, with both sides playing in an amicable manner. Falkirk finished disappointed as they could have won the game with a full side.

Falkirk GHG V 3
This was a game that Falkirk, initially, should have, on paper, won hands down because within 30 seconds of play Duncan Kehoe on one of his mazy runs had stormed through the Carnegie defence and expertly slipped the ball over the outstretched home keeper for the first goal. Unfortunately the game then went to the home side who really controlled most of the game and equalised fifteen minutes later through a well run ball up the right wing crossed into the D to be well struck past Craig Malcolm in goals, which was to be the start of a very busy afternoon for the afore mentioned keeper. Falkirk did reply before halftime with a goal from David Humphreys to go in 2-1. Carnegie again replied to equalise early in the second half and ten minutes before the end finally took the lead and just before the final whistle up popped Humphreys again this time to equalise for Falkirk which was against the run of play.
