Falkirk hosted the Edinburgh side's 4th eleven at Linlithgow Academy in this rescheduled league encounter postponed due to a frozen pitch in January. Falkirk went behind early on when unable to clear their lines a Grange forward beat the home keeper from close range. Shortly after this Wullie Simpson was floored as the ball flew up during a 50-50 challenge in the Falkirk D, hitting him on the side of his head and drawing blood from his left ear, requiring 5 stitches at the Falkirk Royal Casualty department. Many thanks to Paul Paton who was on hand to ferry the injured man and Robert Russell being a trained first aider who handled the situation admirably. The loss of their central defender did upset the Falkirk formation but credit to all those who turned out on Mothering Sunday who played extremely well considering players were drafted in from teams lower down the club. One of these players, Ally Nayer was on hand to score from close range following excellent build up play from the Falkirk midfield. The teams turned round at half time honours even and the game continued to be evenly balanced for the majority of the second half but the makeshift Falkirk defence were caught on the break late in the game to lose some sloppy goals. The score line flattered the visitors with Gregor Maxwell being unlucky not to score yet another league goal. A great performance by those who turned out for a grateful Falkirk second eleven captain.
