Edinburgh Brother II 0
Falkirk GHG III 2
Falkirk travelled to Leith Academy for a difficult encounter against a Edinburgh
Brother side who had posed problems earlier in the season. Falkirk were on rampant
form with Danny Gibney returned to the line up following two weeks out. Gibney
came close twice when his undercut shots narrowly skimmed the bar. Callahan
was to come close as well following a fine pass from Gibney. Davie Gallagher
and Liam Robertson in the midfield were driving the team forward and it was
Robertson who came painstakingly close to opening the scoring, forcing a top
save from the home keeper. Craig Gove was unlucky when his flick from a short
corner bounced of the bar. Just when it looked like it might not be Falkirk’s
day Iain Cameron was fouled on the edge of the area from the resulting free
hit Davie Ferguson found Cameron who slotted home with composure. Falkirk were
soon to double their lead when a quick hit from McNeill found its way to Cameron.
The Falkirk player played a precision pass to Danny Gibney who slotted home
for this 10th of the season. The second half was to prove much less eventful,
with Craig Malcolm showing his usual ability in goal making a few crucial blocks.
Callahan had a chance to kill in game but the ball didn’t quite fall kindly
and so the game was to finish an 2-0 and a hard fought win for the Falkirk side.
Carnegie VII 2
Falkirk GHG IV 2
The Falkirk side traveled to a wet Rosyth for this encounter and from the outset
it was non stop. Sam Hannah in goal for GHG had a busy game and for only his
fourth outing soaked up the pressure well with some outstanding saves helped
by some good defence from Alan Jenkins and Graeme Pitcaithly. The home side
went 1 up from a short corner routine but GHG old boy Ross Anderson equaled
the game to go in square at half time. The second half was also non stop with
Falkirk having the better chances but to no avail. Falkirk eventually took the
lead from a deft pass from Luke Mcphee to Gordon Anderson at the top of the
D who drilled it hard past the keeper. This spurred on the Rosyth side, with
only excellent mid field work and strong defending keeping them out . As the
whistle was blown for time a short corner was awarded by the home side umpire
and try as the defence might, the ball found it's way over the line in a melee
of feet and everything else to allow Carnegie a share of the points.
