Falkirk GHG 3
Harris 2
Falkirk got off to a great start in this years indoor with a victory against
perennial title contenders Harris. Despite the defection of Ally Wilson, last
season's top scorer, to Clydesdale, it was a strong Falkirk squad that took
to the court. Falkirk almost took the lead when Michael Watson's effort from
Falkirk's first corner struck the inside of the post, while Robert Thomson and
Stafford Dickson prevented Harris from converting corners of their own at he
other end. Direct play from Falkirk created a great chance for Iain Fraser,
but his shot was sent wide when it was easier to score. Falkirk eventually took
the lead after Douglas Nicol burst through from midfield, and his ball past
the Harris keeper allowed Watson to shoot home from a tight angle. Harris equalised
just before half time, but Falkirk retook the lead at the start of the second
half with Nicol again setting up Watson to shoot home from the top of the box.
Harris fought back once more to equalise for a second time, but were only level
for a minute before Falkirk scored the winning goal. James Moran broke up a
Harris attack and sent a long ball down the boards to Chris Anderson, whose
ball inside was converted by Michael Watson for his and Falkirk's third. With
time running out, the Falkirk defence held firm to give the local side their
first three points of the season.

Watsonians 6
Falkirk went from high to low in the space of 20 minutes as they were immediately
back on court to face Watsonians. The first half was fairly even, but Watson's
denied the Falkirk attack the same space afforded to them in the first game,
and chances were few and far between. Watsonians scored twice in quick succession
after mistakes by the home side, and as Falkirk pushed forward in the second
half, Watson's hit them on the break to race into a five goal lead. Fearing
a "granny", Falkirk were relieved to see James Moran pick up his first goal
of the season with a flick in off the left hand post. Watsonians completed the
scoring to round off a comfortable victory, and leave Falkirk pondering about
what had gone wrong.

Greenock 4
After seeing Greenock's opening two matches, Falkirk were expecting a tough
game against their newly promoted opponents, and so it proved as Greenock took
a two goal lead. Had it not been for Robert Thomson the deficit could have been
a lot worse, but when Douglas Nicol converted a minute before half time, it
gave Falkirk a much needed boost. A constructive half time team talk saw Falkirk
raise their game in the second half, and goals from Arthur Robertson and Stafford
Dickson gave Falkirk the lead for the first time. With Kevin Russell and Douglas
Nicol bossing the middle of the park, Falkirk were well on top, and Chris Anderson
set up Iain Fraser for Falkirk's fourth. Stafford Dickson scored his second
with a penalty flick into the top corner for Falkirk's fifth, before Greenock
pulled a goal back. Falkirk's outdoor corner routine paid dividends indoors
as Watson stepped past two defenders before setting up Stafford Dickson to complete
his hat-trick and seal the three points. Greenock got a consolation goal in
the final minute, but Falkirk played out the time for their second win of the
day.
