After their amazing victory of last week, Captain Scott McNeill named a team with two changes in this league encounter with Livingston. After two trips to the "new toon" earlier in the season, neither of which resulted in a match being played, it was pleasing for both clubs to finally be able to face each other. Falkirk started in dominant form, with Iain Cameron unlucky not to open the scoring on two occasions. Jonny Anderson, as always worked incredibly hard, and also came close to breaking the deadlock. Falkirk rarely looked in danger of conceding a goal, and with Dougie Smith and Paul Paton at the heart of the defence, Livingston found chances few and far between. Falkirk were playing impressive hockey with Anderson again coming close from a short corner. John Russell also showed his intent, picking the ball in his own half and running at the Livingston defence with his cutback met by Ross Drummond who couldn't find the goal. It took Paul Paton, last weeks match winner, to open the scoring with a powerfully drilled shot from a penalty corner, finding its way over the line. John Russell had a chance to double Falkirk's advantage, but his cheeky back-stick effort found the wrong side of the post. Livingston started the second half brightly, with Falkirk's midfield looking a little ragged. The visitors were given a gilt edge opportunity to equalise from the penalty spot, but a truly amazing save from Falkirk keeper Craig Malcolm, who somehow managed to change direction in mid air kept Falkirk's lead intact. Davie Ferguson and Davie Gallagher in the centre of the park were working incredibly hard, and justly won another penalty corner. Once again Paul Paton, who was having a brilliant game in defence, showed great ability to blast the ball into the bottom corner to double the home sides lead. The game was to finish 2-0 with top performances from Paton and Malcolm to thank for a fine Falkirk win.
