Match reports for 30/10/05
Falkirk GHG 3
Aberdeen University 3
Falkirk got off to a flyer in this rearranged league game, as Arthur Robertson's
defence splitting pass found Michael Watson at the top of the box inside the
opening minutes, and his pass was tucked away by Chris Anderson from close range.
Falkirk pressed for a second, Watson shooting wide through a crowded box, and
despite having the better of the opening exchanges, found themselves level after
a long ball was deflected into the home goal. Falkirk continued to play good
hockey, but found themselves behind after their own penalty corner routine was
broken up, and Aberdeen surged down the field to score against an exposed defence.
Falkirk manged to get an equaliser before half time, Chris Anderson's 50 yard
run being crudely stopped just inside the box, and Stafford Dickson converting
the resulting penalty. A clearance off the line by Paul Paton kept the scores
level in the second half, and Dickson was denied on three occasions from penalty
corners before a mistake in defence allowed Aberdeen to take the lead again.
With time running out, Iain Fraser finally managed to get a decent ball into
the box, and Chris Anderson's loitering at the back post paid off as he converted
from 2 yards to gain a valuable point for Falkirk.
