Falkirk GHG 2
Aberdeen Uni 0

Back on a pitch where the run of the ball could be predicted, Falkirk put together a much better performance in their second game of the weekend. A slight tactical change seemed to make the difference, as Falkirk dominated the midfield and set a platform for a period of sustained attacking. Douglas Nicol almost opened the scoring with a snap shot from Iain Fraser's cross, but it cracked the face of the left hand post. Falkirk lost David Ferguson after his second head knock in 5 minutes, but regrouped to continue their attacking game. Nicol almost broke the deadlock after cutting in from the right and committing the keeper, but this time managed to hit the outside of the right hand post. Stafford Dickson was next to try his luck, but his flick from a corner only found the side netting. Falkirk finally got off the mark when Dickson's ball into the box was deflected by Jonny Anderson, but were unable to add to this before half time. Aberdeen made a much better start to the second half, but Robert Thomson kept Falkirk ahead with a string of saves to thwart the students. With 15 minutes to go Falkirk extended their lead, Dickson managing to hit the target this time from the penalty corner, and despite the best efforts of the visitors, Rennie, Robertson and Moran made sure there was no capitulation from the home side.
