Match reports for 20/1/07Carnegie IV 4
On a windy day at Rosyth, Falkirk travelled to take on Carnegie hoping to win an important 3 league points. Thanks to some good play through the midfield and 2 fine finishes from Gregor Maxwell and Ross Drummond, Falkirk found themselves 2 goals up with only 20 minutes to play. Sensing a victory might be on the cards, the Falkirk side then proceeded to self destruct allowing the home side to score 4 unanswered goals in the closing stages. A bitterly disappointing finish to what looked like being a marvellous victory.
Falkirk GHG II 2Edinburgh Uni VI 3
Falkirk GHG IV 1Falkirk travelled to Peffermill for this encounter with the students, and as usual the students were full of running, quick passes and good interplay which kept Falkirks in their own half for most of the period. Good mid field interceptions and staunch at times robust defending kept the University out. Falkirk played some nice hockey butit seemed that the students were every where on the park and picked up the ball. The second started half the same as first but with 15 mins to play a well struck short corner from Craig Harper found the backboards with a pleasant thump. Sam Hannah was having a good game in goal with some nice clearances but a loose ball at top D was slotted away by the Uni. From then it was wave after wave of green coming at Falkirk, resilient defending by Dave Sharp and Willie Simpson kept most of the pressure out, but inevitably the second goal game from the Uni pressure. The 3rd goal for the Uni summed up the day even though the team played well.
