Peebles 1
Falkirk GHG IV 5

The fourth XI took the trip along the bypass to Dalkeith on the back of a free-scoring draw last week. With a couple of team changes, the team took to the field with a quiet confidence. It was not long before Falkirk came close with a neat run and cross from Ewan Jeffrey. Some strong running from Arthur Robertson and Derry Barton led to a break through into the Shooting circle by Ross Anderson, the ball broke into the path of the on running Jeffrey, who finished clinically. The second came quite quickly when a speculative cross seemed to be going harmlessly out the back. The ball was left by the Peebles keeper - a fatal decision - as the ball rebounded off the far post into the path of the well placed Barton, his screamer was goal bound when a defender’s leg got in the way. Umpire Sharp had no hesitation in awarding a Penalty Flick which was despatched expertly by Stephen Sutton. The 4’s took the foot off the gas a little which allowed Peebles to creep back into the game with a breakaway strike. The second half saw numerous chances come Falkirk’s way but the team seemed to make heavy work of that final ball into the ’D’. It took a fantastic piece of individual skill from Jeffrey to finally break down the Peebles defence when he jinked past a couple of defenders before cutting it back to Anderson who deftly reverse sticked the ball past the stationery keeper. Jeffrey was ghosting past the defence with ease and Alan McDonald and Ross Anderson could easily have added to the score. It was Alan who scored next after some fine interchanges between Trodden and Robertson again with a tidy chip into the net. It was down to Anderson to wrap up the points for Falkirk making up for a couple of squandered earlier chances with a cool flick over the diving Peebles keeper. The game was all about the midfield and frontline but that was only down to the resolute defending of Sharp, Sutton and Pitcaithly. This game showed that Falkirk are a match for anyone in the league on their day and was played in a great spirit with no warnings or cards for either side - A credit to all those concerned.
