Falkirk GHG 2
ESMFP 0

Falkirk climbed into second place with a deserved win over ESM at Linlithgow. The first half was an evenly balanced affair, and it took until the second half for the deadlock to be broken. Jonny Anderson's exquisite turn along the bye-line gave him space to pick out Chris Anderson, who slotted confidently past the keeper at his near post. Falkirk sealed the points from a penalty corner 10 minutes later, Stafford Dickson finding Michael Watson in space to pick his spot wide of the keeper. Another solid defensive performance from Falkirk ensured there was no consolation score for ESM.

Falkirk lost 4-2 on penalties

Falkirk travelled to the Mary Erskine School in Edinburgh for this cup game against a side who are 2 divisions above them in the league. Knowing this would be a hard encounter, Falkirk seemed up for the challenge, and started well soaking up at the back as home side brought the game to them with pace. The Falkirk attacks which started well at the back and were fed through the midfield to the youngsters up front, howver the attacks were mopped up by a strong Melville's defence. This was the same story for the whole match with Stevie Sutton, John Hughes, Dougie Smith and Willie Simpson defending well and taking some hard hits from the forward line up of Melville's. A short corner on the final whistle aginst Falkirk usually spells trouble but sensible defending and a wide shot took the game to a penalty shootout which falkirk lost out on 4-2. a great performance from the whole team and an unlucky result to boot. Thanks for the effort lads greatly appreciated
