Scotland Over 50's 2
Falkirk GHG 7

Falkirk got their preseason friendlies underway with a training match against a Scottish Vets side preparing for the Home Nations International in Wales the following weekend. With Chris Taylor and Arthur Robertson turning out for Scotland, there was a competitive edge with neither side wishing to be shown up. Falkirk included Andrew Kay and Jamie Stokoe as guests in their line up, in preparation for the Over 40's competition at the venue in Wales, standing in for Douglas Nicol and Craig Strachan who were both unavailable. Falkirk got off to a flying start when Chris Anderson opened the scoring after 5 mins, and the lead was doubled shortly after when Michael Watson finished off a flowing move. Andrew Kay scored the 3rd after good build up play, and the ex-MIM star showed that he'd lost none of his skills as he guided those around him through the game. Scotland had the Falkirk defence under pressure at the start of the second period, and pulled a goal back from a penalty corner, before Kay converted a corner of his own and Iain Fraser netted to increase Falkirk's lead. A second penalty corner goal at the end of the period was as close as Scotland came to getting back into the game, as the third period was dominated by a Falkirk midfield tidily anchored by Stokoe. Chris Anderson claimed his second of the match at the end of a fast break, and in the final minute Gordon Anderson was brought down by the keeper to allow Stafford Dickson to convert the resulting penalty.
