Granite City Wanderers 5
Falkirk GHG 1

Aberdeen is a difficult place to get a result when you are playing well, but a poor performance from Falkirk saw them slip to their heaviest defeat of the season from a Granite City side that are clearly better than their league position suggests. After a cagey opening period, Wanderers opened the scoring when a diagonal ball from the right found it's way across the box to be deflected in at the far post. A second goal quickly followed as the home side dominated the middle of the park and Falkirk continually turned over possession. Falkirk got back into the match when a quick free hit found Chris Anderson in space in the box, and he steadied himself before smashing a shot across the goal and into the side netting. Michael Watson almost snatched an equaliser with a snap shot from the top of the D, but it flew a couple of inches past the wrong side of the post. Although the first half had not been great, the second half was arguably Falkirk's poorest 35 mins of the season, as they gave up 3 goals and failed to register a single shot on target. A combination of bad passing, bad luck and quality forward play saw GC put the game beyond the visitors, and had it not been for the inspirational form of Robert Thomson in the Falkirk goal, double figures would not have been out of the question, as the Falkirk keeper pulled of a series of magnificent blocks to keep the scoreline moderately respectable.
