Inverleith's young second string were eventually well beaten by Falkirk, but the half time scoreline was a lot closer than expected, as Falkirk passed up a series of chances, and conceded late goals. A first half hat-trick from Craig Strachan, double from Niall Stott and another from Sandy Rennie had given Falkirk a commanding lead, but 2 goals in the final minute of the half from Inverleith saw the lead cut to 3. However, in a one-sided second half, Falkirk notched up double figures without reply to record their biggest win of the season. Craig Strachan, Iain Fraser and two each from Niall Stott and Gordon Anderson were all scored in a 6 minute spell, before 4 goals in the final 4 minutes from Michael Watson completed the rout. Falkirk got off to the worst possible start when they conceded in the first minute, and although they took the lead after 2 quick goals from Iain Fraser and Craig Strachan, Stepps equalised immediately to complete a remarkable 3 minute opening spell. Niall Stott netted the first of his hat-trick to put Falkirk ahead again after 8 minutes, before Stepps regained the lead through 2 strikes of their own. Craig Strachan completed his hat-trick with 2 goals in a minute to give Falkirk a narrow half time lead that had changed hands once again. That was to be as close as Stepps got, as a disciplined 2nd half performance from the Falkirk side saw them dominate the scoring. Niall Stott notched his second of the game after intercepting a pass in midfield and reacting quickly to beat the Stepps keeper to the ball, and at the other end, Robert Thomson was in great form, stopping everything Stepps could throw at him. Further scores in the final 4 minutes from Fraser and Stott completed Falkirk's scoring, and maintained their perfect record at the halfway point in the season. Scorers : Craig 3 , Niall 3 , Iain 2
