Falkirk entertained the league leaders at Linlithgow and put in a performance that could have taken something from the match, but ultimately, wasn't enough as Stepps claimed a deserved victory. Michael Watson had a goal chopped off before opening the scoring from a penalty corner, at the third attempt after 2 saves by the Stepps keeper. Stepps should have been level midway through the first half, but on two occasions, shot wide of an open goal. Falkirk couldn't hold out though, and Stepps managed to get an equaliser before half time. After a Falkirk attack broke down in the Stepps box, a quick break saw Thomson bring down the Stepps forward on the edge of the box, and the resulting penalty was expertly dispatched into the top right corner giving the Falkirk keeper no chance. The visitors took the lead at the start of the second half after a scrappy penalty corner, and although Falkirk had reasonable periods of play, it couldn't be converted into chances. Stepps third goal came from a sideline ball that the home side thought had gone their way, but that the umpire awarded to the visitors. With the home side out of position, Stepps took advantage with another quick breakaway, and although Thomson made a fine initial stop, the rebound fell straight to another forward to slot into the empty net.
