Falkirk GHG 7
Granite City Wanderers 6

On their return to division 3 after an absence of 7 years, Falkirk got off to a solid start with victory over newly promoted Granite City Wanderers. Last seasons top scorer, Craig Strachan, got the ball rolling in the first minute, and added a second from a penalty corner before Granite City got off the mark. Chris Anderson netted a third for Falkirk before GCW pulled another goal back from a corner, but two strikes in as many minutes from Strachan gave Falkirk a comfortable half time lead. Michael Watson netted Falkirk's sixth at the start of the second half with a strike from a narrow angle, and despite Granite City pulling 2 goals back, Strachan secured victory with his 5th of the match after good build up play down the left hand board. Two further goals from Wanderers in the final minutes made the scoreline closer than it should have been, but it was a positive result and performance to get the season off to the best possible start.

Falkirk GHG 5
Quasar 4

Falkirk secured maximum points from the opening weekend with a narrow victory over Quasar. Falkirk lost an early goal, but Craig Strachan equalised in 4 minutes from a penalty corner. With Falkirk struggling to come to terms with Quasars man-marking defence, chances were few and far between, but 2 goals in a minute from Quasar opened a significant advantage, and Robert Thomson had to be on top form to stop Falkirk going further behind. Falkirk fought back and managed 3 goals in 4 minutes to turn the game on it's head, as Strachan and Iain Fraser with a double gave them the lead for the first time in the match. With 2 minutes to go, Michael Watson saved a penalty corner on the line, but cleared straight to an opponent who made no mistake to equalise. The Falkirk captain made amends in the final minute as he netted the winner after Chris Anderson had won the ball on the boards, to gain a vital 3 points.
